History of Chrysler in Chatham
Discover the rich history of the Chrysler brand in the vibrant community of Chatham. At Chatham Chrysler, we take pride in our longstanding connection to this area and the traditions that have shaped us.
In the post-war era, Bert Stacey Motors held a prominent place in downtown Chatham, situated on the corner of King and 3rd Streets. Housed within a distinctive three-story building, the dealership’s unique layout required vehicles to be stored on multiple levels, navigating through cement columns for test drives.
Today, we continue the legacy of Bert Stacey Motors and uphold our commitment to serving the Chatham community with integrity and dedication. Our team cherishes the history and heritage of Chrysler in this region, and we are honored to carry that tradition forward.
Meanwhile, in the early 1960s, the Crawford family played a pioneering role in the automotive industry by operating one of the first four Toyota dealerships in Canada. Located downtown, their dealership later transitioned to selling the Renault Alliance and then the AMC Alliance. In 1982, the Crawford family acquired our current property at 351 Richmond St., formerly a Dominion Grocery Store. With the acquisition of AMC by Chrysler, the dealership evolved into Crawford Jeep Eagle and eventually became Crawford Chrysler/Plymouth/Jeep/Eagle.
